Kaleidoscope Choir

choir banner

We are a community choir in Derby for people who want to enjoy singing together in a group.

  • no auditions
  • no need to read music
  • friendly, informal atmosphere
  • no pressure to join in performances, unless you want to!

About the Choir

choir

Kaleidoscope Community Choir sing a wide range of songs from the UK and around the world. The choir is open to everyone, regardless of experience, ability or confidence. There are no auditions and songs are taught by ear, so you don't have to be able to read music. We start the session with a warm up, and simple rounds, chants and unison songs. We then go on to learn more complex harmony songs, which we build on week by week. We occasionally perform, but there is no pressure to do so.

Our Conductor

choir

Our conductor is Beth de Lange. She has been leading the choir since 1998. She also conducts Rough Truffles Choir in Belper (Mondays at the Queens Head Pub), and has taught singing for Derby City Adult Education Service. She does various singing, music and songwriting workshops with children or adults.

Joining the Choir

You are welcome to come along to the choir on a Thursday night to try it out.

What Does it Cost?

There are two ways to pay:
Pay termly - this works out at £3.50 per session (full) or £1.75 (concessionary). You get a letter at the start of each term telling you what the term will cost. You pay this at the start of term. You can change to 'Pay termly' at any time during the term - just tell Beth and she'll work out how much it is for the remainder of the term.
Pay As You Go - this works out at £4.50 per session (full) or £2.25 (concessionary). If you are just starting and don't want to commit to a whole term, or if you know you will have to miss a lot of sessions for holidays/illness etc, then you can pay each week when you come.

Where and When

We meet every Thursday during school term time from 7.45 to 9.45pm at The VoiceBox, Forman Street, Derby, DE1 1JQ.

We look forward to singing with you!
